In a recent post (“It Ends & Ends & Ends With Us: the Ongoingness of Leaving Abuse”), my mention of a “leaving lexicon” seemed to strike a few chords. So, I gave it more thought: how might we build a communal leaving lexicon, especially as a resource for those who still need help leaving?
The #LeavingLexicon Project has begun, and you can play a part:
To be clear, I’m not suggesting that words can or should replace tangible resources that are key to leaving—e.g., financial freedom or backup housing options.
But I’ve heard enough leaving stories (including my own) to know that words can offer solace, courage, and the will to live and to leave.
I hope to hear from you in the comments, contact form, or through Instagram.
Let’s help some ladybirds leave.
